Tying One On Hooks & Jig Heads
Hooks
Gamakatsu’s Steelhead/Salmon Jig Hook: Was new for Gamakatsu in 2006. This jig hook is 2x Strong 90 Degree Jig Hook was designed primarily with the Salmon and Steelhead Jig Angler in mind. These new hooks are extremely stout and will stand up to the abuse any big wild Steelhead can dish out. Made in sizes 1, 1/0, and 2/0 only since these are the main sizes used in most Steelhead jigs, this hook is slightly heavier than the 604 series jig hook which has become quite popular with Steelheaders across the country. This 255 series jig hook comes in a corrosion resistant NS Black finish. As far as I know, these are the only jig hooks that are designed and manufactured just for Salmon & Steelhead Jig Fishing.
Gamakatsu’s 604 Jig Hook: A Premium Black Nickel round bend heavy gauge wire jig hooks. This hook is a chemically sharpened premium jig hook. This hook designed a round bend with excellent hooking ability. This hook is Black Nickel!
Eagle Claw Jig Hooks: Note, the only jig hooks that are made in the USA, and also a standard on a lot of jigs & jig heads.

Jig Heads
Round Head Jig: Our vote for the Most Valuable Player in your line-up. The Round Head Jig is the most popular all-around head style used in all water types in the world. Probably responsible for a greater variety of catches than any other lure. It also earns points as a good casting jig and a fairly rapid sinker.
Football Jig: The Football jig scores big for bottom fishing and as a probing tool. The wide-shaped jig head prevents the lure from fumbling on its side. Instead, this “all-star” drags along the bottom with the hook always remaining upright. Line pressure causes the jig to stand up, poised for a strike, ready to tackle its prey. Plus, the broad face helps transmit signals up the line about changes in bottom features. What a sport! Ideal for fishing bass, walleye and trout.
Shad Dart Jig: A slant-faced, tapered jig that’s named for migrating mid-Atlantic shad. The slanted head gives it a rising, “darting” action when the rod tip is raised.
Shake-It Jig: Whether you call it an “Alabama Rig”, “Finesse Rig” or “Shakey Rig” this simple system has been lighting up the tournament trail. Pick your favorite plastic, rig it Texas-style with the hook hid in the plastic, and finesse the big boy in.
Tip Up Jig: Intended for Walleye fishing, the name of the lure is descriptive of its action. This special stand up design will rotate to an upright position even if the jig lands on its side. A flat base with barb collar permits plastic grubs to fit up tight. Tip Up Jigs more closely approximate the familiar round head jig performance characteristics than do other stand up jig designs.
Arrowhead Jig: Put this jig in your quiver for a successful catch. The resemblance of the flat tapered head to a stone arrowhead is no mere coincidence. The streamlined shape pierces strong currents. Sleek, flat-sided jig heads give more action to paddle tail grubs and shad bodies than do wider and bulkier head designs.
ALL LEAD HEADS ARE POURED WITH SOFT 100% LEAD, NO TIN IN THEM!!! THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOFT LEAD & HARD LEAD (WITH TIN, EXAMPLE WOULD BE TIRE WHEEL WEIGHTS). HARD LEAD (WITH TIN) MAKES A TINNY SOUND WHEN IT HITS THE GROUND, AND WHAT WE HAVE FOUND OUT, IT DOES SEEM TO SPOOK THE FISH MORE TOO!!!
